The
Business Philosophy of Bill Marx
and Chesterland Autobody
The Marx family, owners and founders of Chesterland Autobody, have a simple business philosophy. "I really try to treat people the way I'd like to be treated", said BillMarx, Sr. It is that no-nonsense approach to conducting business that earned Mr. Marx the Chesterland Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year Award. His philosophy is also why Chesterland Autobody draws customers from a 25 mile radius.
Bill gives credit for the award to his employees and customers. "I appreciated everybody that has helped make it possible," he said. "I've a lot of good people here. That makes it easy to do my job."
Apprenticing immediately after high school, Mr. Marx started his own business after 7 years working at a dealership. "I started here by myself with one helper. That helper (Vince Volcensek) is still here."
The shop was originally a 3,000 square foot building. It is now roughly 14,000 square feet and employs 27 skilled and enthusiastic workers.
